What is Baby Homeopathy?
In 1796 a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, discovered a different approach to the cure of the sick which he called Homeopathy.
Homeopathy is an effective and scientific system of healing which assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. It recognises that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person, and that it is the patient as a whole who needs treatment, not the disease.
How Can it Help My Child?
Homeopathy can help everyone! Whether it be prescribing a constitutional remedy (one medicine which is perfectly suited to your child and helps all ailments they might suffer from) or an acute remedy (a medicine that is prescribed for one particular ailment only - usually mild in nature - e.g: teething).
I have been a practicing homeopath in Essex for 5 years now, and in that time, I have had great success in treating babies and children with allergies, eczema, molluscum, cradle cap, glue ear, colic, teething problems, fever and febrile convulsions. As well as childhood illnesses such as chicken pox, bronchiolitis and impetigo, a tendency to catch colds and tonsillitis, constipation and behavioural problems. Children make wonderful Homeopathic patients and I can prescribe for a baby as young as just one day old!
Is it Safe?
Yes absolutely! Homeopathy is one of the safest forms of medicine known to man. The incredibly dilute and gentle nature of the remedies we use means that homeopathy is largely without side effect and thus perfectly safe for newborns and older babies and children. In fact it is in these precise situations, because of its safety, that many chose to turn to homeopathy! not wanting to use strong conventional medicines with potential side effects and full of additives on their pure small babies.
Can you treat adults too?
Yes absolutely! Homeopathy is particularly wonderful for new mothers, in fact many women begin to use Homeopathy regularly after experiencing the amazing effects of Arnica after their birth.
As a homeopath, I specialise in the homeopathic treatment of new mothers and can help with postnatal issues such as sore stitches, Caesarean wounds that are slow to heal, mastitis and other breastfeeding problems, afterpains and period problems. I also specialise in Homeopathy for fertility should your mind be turning to having another baby.

My room in Saffron Walden in particular is very child friendly, with a large toy box to amuse the youngest of visitors, and if the appointment is for you, you are welcome to bring your children to the appointment with you. As a mum of four young children, as well as a homeopath, I know how hard it is trying to find childcare!
Do you run Special Workshops Like Homeopathy for Babies & Children?
Absolutely! Perhaps you want to get together with a group of new mums, your NCT or antenatal class perhaps, and learn about how you can use the gentle, effective homeopathic remedies to help your child with minor ailments such as bumps and bruises, teething and tummy upsets?
BabyCalm(TM) run special 2.5hr workshops where our qualified homeopath will introduce you to the concept of homeopathy and will cover some of the top remedies useful for treating babies and children. You will be provided with a set of handouts and will be able to purchase competitively priced homeopathic remedies on the day if you would like to.
The BabyCalm (TM) Homeopathy for Babies and Children workshop can be held anywhere in Essex, Cambs, Herts or Suffolk providing there are 4 or more mums (or dads!) in attendance and you provide the venue. Alternatively the workshop can be held in BabyCalm's practice locations of Saffron Walden, Essex or Royston, Herts.
